One of my favourite fashion designers

Ok so I thought I'd take a look on the vogue website to check out the new collections and found one of my favourite designers on the start page. The designer that im talking is the Marchesa who designs stunning, elegant gowns (mainly). She creates stunning gowns that have been seen on the red-carpet several times. In three words I would describe her collections as elegant, pretty and glamorous. Her Pre spring/summer 2013 collection did not let me down but just made me love her as a designer more. Her gowns that she designer are either simply decorated or designed with exquisite fabric manipulation (Guessing your not all fashion students that basically means just creating textures and shapes just by using the fabric itself). She doesn't need to put a lot into the design to create something so beautiful. If I won the lottery she would be the first designer I would purchase something from, her garments are so stunning.

From her pre spring/summer 2013 collection these are the 5 that are my favourite. They are all really glamorous and really pretty.
1. The first dress I liked just because it was filled with with embroidery and beads but it an elegant way. The detail is just in that rather than the shape of the dress. The chiffon and nude colour lining creates, to me a fairy tale like dress as if the beads are actually on her. This is a dress that I would love to wear down the red carpet.
2. This is the first dress in the collection that I saw and I liked how pretty and sophisticated it was. This is something that someone young like me could wear. Its the one shoulder shape that gives it that youthful and slightly fun look to it. I also think the laser cut detail is just stunning. If you zoom in on the website you can see the laser cut fabric even better. Again the detail is in just that laser cut layering which is stunning.
3. This is a dress that looks at fabric manipulation. The detail is in the way the fabric is folded and also layered to create that fishtail skirt. There is no beads or embroidery on this dress, its just some fabric thats been placed to look elegant. This looks like a dress that seems as it makes you feel like your floating. The sleeves are also very lovely and princess-like.
4. This is another laser-cut garment that I just love. Having the laser-cut top over the black dress emphasises the stunning pattern. Having the top also outlined in black against the white makes it really stand out from a far. I also like this garment because of the way the top goes in at the waist and back out. It creates that glamorous and smart look. I would love to create something similar inspired by this as it just looks stunning and something thats taken ages.
5. This is a dress that has just that bit of decoration to make it very beautiful. I love mix of the gold and silver which makes it look so much more expensive. The top is also layered on the skirt to give it that Greek- goddess feel which is stunning.

So thats just a little bit of 1 of my favourite fashion designers, what do you think of Marchesa. Who's your favourite fashion designer?

#7days7dresses

\

So today I read that I had two days left to enter an amazing competition. The competition was to put together 7 outfits for 7 days with a dress from new look. So I came home from school and got styling which was really fun. Just in case you want to know the site I used to put the outfit together was polyvore which is amazing and easy to use. There wasnt really a theme or particular style for the weeks outfit but probably I'd say there were cute, pretty and fun. My favourite outfit is Monday as its really cute and quirky with the carousel horse print. If I won this competition I would just be forever smiling but making them up was fun anyway. What is your favourite day outfit?

Girl Meets Dress
Yesterday whilst on the internet I came upon an AMAZING website, a website where you can borrow clothes. I know that might sound just ordinary but if you take a look at the website you will find stunning and quite expensive dresses. There's dresses that you can wear for Prom, an Evening event or even a Birthday. Obviously there's a fee you have to pay if not everyone would probably keep the dresses but you get the money back when you return the dress which is fair enough. The whole concept of it is really good because sometimes you want to but a really nice dress but dont want to spend so much because chances are you'll ever wear it again. There are also a couple of designer names in there which makes it even better, imagine telling someone you're wearing a dress designed by Stella McCartney and walking away knowing technically you haven't even spent a penny.

DINA BAR-EL - Olivia Black - Designer Dress hire

  DINA BAR-EL
 - Olivia Black
    HIRE : £109    -    RRP: £700

This is just a simple black dress that I found that I liked. I would probably wear this to an evening event with some gold accessories. Anyway to hire this dress it will cost me £109 that sounds alot but when you look at how much it will cost you its quite cheap. Also because you get back that money you paid it will mean that looking amazing wont actually cost you alot.

There are so much more dresses on the website for several occasions that you can look at. So take a look. What do you think of this website?

Amy Child's Collection

Months ago Amy Child's had her own reality television series called "Its All about Amy" which I got loved. I have never seen "The only was is Essex" but there was something fun and bubbly about Amy, also I guess I was interested in how she actually lives her life. Throughout the series I would see her in some really nice dresses, they were cute and sophisticated. She is a really pretty girl and so its nice that she does dress is a nice and sophisticated style rather then the bright shiny dresses all the time. She's had her collection out for a bit I think and I really like what's on there. The 4 pictures on top are my top favourites from the collection. As you can tell in the collections you'll find cute, pretty and sophisticated. If you look on her website you'll see that all the garments are named which I think is really sweet.

Audrey (Tan coloured dress): This was the first dress I liked and why I like it is because of the shape. It goes in at the waist and goes out to give you that glamorous hour-glass figure. This is something that I would wear to work because its smart, simple and elegant. I also really like that colour of the dress its quite subtle. On the web-page it gave the tip of swapping the thin belt with a thick waist belt to create a 'perfect party dress' which I totally agree with. {£60.00}

Marilyn (White with black underskirt): This dress is really classic and really cute. This is something you can dress up or dress down as its in a style of a skater dress. What makes this dress a bit more fun and girly is the peeping net underskirt to give it that shape. I like the choice of it being black as it stands out and still looks classic. I think its quite obvious why this dress is called Marilyn, dont you. {£55.00}

Mila (Cheetah print) : Sometimes wearing cheetah print garments can be really wrong but in this case its a definitely big yes. This dress has a nice shape so having the cheetah print is nice. This shape of the dress again in really cute and classic with the sweetheart neckline and belted waist. This is another classic dress that you can dress up or dress down. This would looks glamours with some gold accessories and platform shoes. {£45.00}

Dip Back Vest(white top): Having a garment with a short front and a long back is being seen a lot now which is a really nice look. Here its seen in a top which I think is really cool. Because the top is asymmetric you can  have it styled for several different look. I can see this working on the beach but also working with leather pants/leggings to get that rock which look. {£28.00}

Quick Review

This was a goody-bag pack I bought when I was at graduate fashion week. The goody bag was £10 and contain the 6 items shown in the picture. I knew for a fact that all this was going to cost more than £10 so I got it, it was definitely value for money or more. I went on the website and checked out all the prices and come up with a total of around £32 meaning I saved about £23 which is amazing. I had never bought Rimmel products before so I was a little excited to try out these products. I like how the goody bag was put together as it was a natural pack that everyone could use rather then getting blue eye-liner and bright pink lipstick. I've tried all the products but the nail varnish as I dont wear nail varnish and I'm using as a giveaway
Bronzer: I dont really like wearing powder because I dont really like how it looks also because if you dont get the right shade it can make you look white. However this is a bronzer which gave me a bit of a glow, especially in the sun. I liked this product also because it made my face smooth which I loved. I think this is a product I will buy again.
Eye-liner: I use eye-liner most days so comparing this to my other ones was going to be interesting. It was more or less the same thing you get from all eye-liners, it was black and liquid. Something that made me like this product was actually the tip which was, instead of the really thin tip it was the slightly more thicker one which meant that I could easily do the flick at the end. The only thing is with this one is that when I made a small mistake when applying eye-liner you couldn't really just wipe it off you had to get make up remover if not you'de end up with a black smudge. I guess you could say that thats also a pro of the eye-liner as it will last in wet conditions (not tried so dont take my word, educated guess). Because of the brush I might get this product again.
Lipstick: This lipstick was good, for colour its amazing sometimes you get a red lipstick and it slightly faint but this one was great. It felt good on your lips it didn't make it dry or anything. The tube was quite nice thought it was quite fancy with the lovely shade of purple.
Mascara: This product was slightly hard to test not because of the product itself but because I have long eyelashes anyway. Just like any good mascara it make it darker and slightly lengthened them. The brush separated the eyelashes to make them look nice. Thats it really, its just a good mascara.
Eye-shadow: This eye-shadow is great for if your starting off with make-up or like to go really natural. It has 3 shades of brown to really get that shadow on your eyes and make them stand out enough to make them seem natural and not to colourful. On the back of the eye-shadow was a diagram of how to apply it which is again great for if your a beginner at make up. I liked this eye-shadow but because I am brown/dark skinned I would personally need a bit of black just to make the eye a but darker. Overall this is a good eye-shadow, this is really good for going out as all you need is in that little container.

Skater Dress

We've seen the skater dress on the roads for a while now and when you think about them they're an essential dress. Bringing in different accessories and other pieces of clothes can create several different look; you can take a skater dress look from a work look to a night out with the girls. What's nice about these dresses is that you can get them in a lot of places with different colours and patterns. This is also a dress that I think fits a lot of different body shapes as its usually worn with a waist belt to show of those curves. You could probably make up a whole wardrobe with these dresses because they are so versatile and simple. Below I have created a collage of several different looks with just 1 blue dress. Its cool how easy it is to change a look with a different pair of shoes and accessories. These are just a fraction of outfits you can put together using a central skater dress. If you haven't got a skater dress maybe you should think about getting 1 as you can turn them into lots of differnt occasional dresses.

pastel vs brights

pastel vs brights

When I was at Graduate Fashion Week on the catwalk was a few collections that mixed pastels and bright/neon colours and I thought that they strangely worked really well. Inspired by what I saw I put an outfit together which I love as its fun, colourful and summery. All the colours work well together, even those yellow shoes. If you like any of the products click the smaller icons under the image to get you to the link.
What do you think?Do you love it?

Graduate Fashion Week Goodies

The actual event: Today I went graduate fashion week, its basically a week event were lots of different  universities from the UK mostly go and show of their best work. Some people might think fashion as just being the dress making but there are many further branches of courses to choose from. One of my favourite courses was the printing one as recently my school has been blessed with a big digital printer where it prints a pattern you can  design onto fabric. Also the knitting caught my eye, it was interesting how many designs people made with that technique. All the garments and displays where really interesting. Although some of the garments weren't really wearable the techniques that they used where really cool. A part of the day was the fashion show which was exciting. The fashion on the catwalk wasnt really wearable but some key pieces where like the chiffon shirts and skirts. Really theses pieces were more pieces of art which is still great. There was lots of bright, neon and pastel colours which of course is in this summer. That was basically it really, just you looking at different university's and their work. Although 'London College of Fashion' didn't have an exhibit I enjoyed looking at all the other fashion universities.

What I got: Obviously at theses events they will have goodies bags filled with cool stuff. The first thing I got which was for free was the bag with the face on it. I really liked the design on it aswell as the fact it was free, you cant really tell but printed on the girls lips was the union jack which was really cute. In the bag was some leaflets and a 'George - Shatter top coat' which is basically nail crackle nail polish, I got 1 but my teacher gave me hers aswell. My first goody bag was £3 and thats the one with the cosmopolitan mag inside as well as:
- teeth whitening tooth paste
- hand cream
- lip balm
- make-up wipes
- Kleenex wipes
- fake tan glove
- 3 x food
- and of-course cosmopolitan magazine

I also saw that rimmel were doing a goody bag for £10, This was amazing as in the shops I would be able to but 2 items that come up-to about £10 so I saved quite a bit. What I got was:
- eye-shadow
- bronzer
- eye liner
- mascara
- red lipstick
 - nail varnish

I shall try out all the products and write a review for them, cant wait for the rimmel one as they are quite a big brand.

Clinique - Chubby Stick Review

"Chubby Stick: moisturising lip colour balm"

Saturday I was really excited to get this parcel which contained a chubby stick. I heard something going through my letter box and new it was a parcel. I tore the packet open and found this amazing stick. Its a new product from clinique called a chubby stick. And it is what it's described as being, a"moisturising lip colour balm". I'm wearing it now and it does feel like a lip-balm, nice and moisturising. I tried out the 'graped-up' one first just as a  safe shade and I like it. You cant see the colour in a picture but close up it has that natural hint of brown colour. If your someone who wants to try to add a little colour to their lips I do recommend this product. I managed to win this in their daily twitter give-away but this does cost £16.00, a bit pricey but very luxurious. Another pro to this product is the pencil-style applicator which makes it easy to apply to your lips and gives to that control. This product has actually won an Elle Beauty Award and I can understand why. This one that I got is great for that natural look, I would love to try out some of the other shades that they have. They have a few stunning colours from browns to red to pinks. Something that they say about this product is that you can actually create a new colour by mixing them up which is great.

Henna Review

'Al Qamar - Cone Henna Paste'

Wet henna

After taking the dried bits off

I have been waiting all day for this post, as you can see its of henna. First things you need to know is that the brand is called "Al Qamar - Cone Henna Paste". My Nan actually tried it first on her nails and it was so good that she went and bought the hand henna. The price I got it at was 99p which is amazing especially as the product is fab. Usually the henna would come in this plastic wrapper cone which sometimes made it hard to get the henna out but this one is like a toothbrush tube with a point at the end. The point of where the henna comes out is 1mm, it may seem tiny but its a pretty good size/thickness. The henna came out perfectly there was no liquid residue that you sometimes get which causes a bit of a mess. It was easy to use, I didn't have to press so hard for the henna to come out. The design took me around 20 minutes, im not amazing at it but I can do the simple-ish designs whilst looking at something. I took the dried henna off after about 5 hours, but it still come out fairly dark after 2-3 hour (from where it god a bit smudged). Even when the henna was still wet I was still on the laptop doing my thing really, so you dont actually have to sit around for 5 hours but I guess it does help. Taking it off I was surprised at how dark it came out, the closest I can describe is like a burnt red-orange. Sometimes the henna I get come out kinda orange, I dont mind it but the brownish colour looks fab. I've used a couple of henna brands but this has to be the best henna I have ever used, to the actual tube to the colour. The only con of this is that if you do smudge it or get little bits on your hands it does go that orange colour, I guess that shows how quick it works but still. I've got little bits or henna on my fingers but its not where you can see it.

They'll might also be sold in Indian shops, you'll just have to ask around. I looked and found the product on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AL-QAMAR-MEHNDI-/270957275169?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_Tattoos_BodyArt_SM&hash=item3f164fe821#ht_2649wt_340

Hope you like my post, so do you like henna?

A go at nail designing

So this morning I spent 30 minutes on a nail art blog and I thought it was really cool how someone could take a drawing/image/design and put it onto nails. I wanted to have a go at designing a set of nails and here they are. I couldn't think of a set of designs straight away so I searched for some inspiration. I found this picture of drawn flowers. I choose that picture as there was loads of little bit to focus on, also there were parts that were pretty simple to draw. The image was black and white so for my set of designs I wanted to add some colour, which I think worked well. They are a simple design but this is my first set. Out of all of them I think my favourite one is the purple one, I like how a part of the nail is purple and then the picture of the flower goes on top so only a bit has that colour. I enjoyed doing these I will definitely be designing some more. Maybe you could send me some pictures that you think I could get inspiration from, or maybe something just to challenge me. So tell me what do you think.
